Who We Are
An official 501 (c)(3) not for profit organization developed, operated, and supported by the Colorado all-vocal community. Colorado A Cappella is dedicated to promoting and fostering any and all forms of a cappella music in the state of Colorado.
Mission
Colorado A Cappella was founded in 2007 for the sole purpose of promoting the art of scholastic based a cappella music in Colorado. Since then, the scope of our work has expanded to include semi-professional and professional level groups as well. The motivation that drives us to work towards improvement in the a cappella community comes from:
- Our passion for singing and desire to share it with everyone around us,
- A recognition of the opportunity to make all forms of a cappella music more prevalent in the community,
- And a strong desire to educate ourselves and anyone else who wishes to improve on his/her craft.
Community Involvement
The positive impact we have on the Colorado vocal music community is continuing to grow. Since our founding in February of 2007, we have established the following annual shows and events:
- Colorado A Cappella Spring College Showcase (April)
- Colorado A Cappella Fall Vocal Conference (October)
- Colorado A Cappella Holiday Program (December)
- Colorado A Cappella Winter Invitational (Janurary)
- Colorado A Cappella Winter Vocal Conference (March)

As a California native, Andrew began singing with the Saint Francis High School Chamber Choir. The group was created by Andrew and his choral director in 2001. By 2004, they were invited to compete and were awarded 2nd place at the Disney Anaheim Choral Competition. At that same competition, Andrew was given the honor of the best male vocalist award.
Andrew came to Colorado in 2004 to attend the University of Denver. As a scared freshman at DU, Andrew auditioned for a couple of girls who wanted to start a singing group. Since then that group has become the infamous DU Idiosingcrasies, performing 30-40 times per year for anyone they can find. Andrew sang tenor & baritone with the 2004-2008 Idiosingcrasies and was also their booking manager. In the summer of 2007, Andrew sang with Tim Jones's collegiate all stars program, The 40th Parallel. The group performed over fifty times before it disbanded and was invited to compete in the 2008 Rocky Mountain Harmony Sweepstakes.
As the mastermind & creator of Colorado A Cappella, Andrew is very grateful to the numerous people who have helped to foster his image of a unified a cappella community. Without the help of many industry professionals and peers, Colorado A Cappella would simply have been a failed dream.Professional Advisors
Tony Huerta
Tony Huerta started his career as a professional singer for Elitch Gardens in 1990, while attending the University of Northern Colorado and majoring in Vocal Music. While attending UNC he founded a vocal group with Matthew Selby (LA, CA) called "Exact Change", which later moved to the Seattle area and became popular vocal group, M-Pact.
In 1998, Tony joined the groundbreaking A Cappella group called "The 17th Avenue Allstars" and performed for ten years as the Vocal Percussionist and baritone/Tenor, hitting 70-80 venues per year across the country. Huerta also sang the national anthem with the 17th Avenue Allstars for the Denver Nuggets (6 Years). The Allstars sang Huerta's Anthem arrangement and were the official anthem singing group for the Denver Broncos from 2005 and 2006.
Since 2004, Huerta has been consistently hired to produce front of house sound for clients Face and Groove Society due to his talents of mixing them in the studio. In December 2004, Huerta was hired to produce sound for the internationally ranked barbershop chorus, "The Sound Of The Rockies".
In January 2006, Huerta was mixing front of house sound for the CMEA All State Vocal Jazz choir and met Mark Kibble of Take 6. Kibble was instrumental in bringing Huerta onto the Take 6 staff as FOH engineer. Huerta's first work with Take 6 was in April 2006 in Quito, Ecuador. Take 6 has since trusted Huerta's ears to mix their concerts. Huerta has traveled to meet Take 6 in Dallas, TX; Oakland, CA; Cleveland, OH; Los Angeles, CA; Indianapolis, IN; Nashville, TN; Washington, DC; Columbia, MD; Pittsburgh, PA; and Quito, Ecuador.
